Overview
Your Premium Print template includes artwork slots that you can use to monetize your print calendar or promote your online events page. The specific slots available depend on the template you selected during configuration — some templates offer a single ad placement, while multi-page templates may support several ad and ad-bar positions within one PDF.
For general setup instructions including how to upload regular artwork, see Premium Print Configuration and Setup. For an overview of the full Premium Print feature, see Premium Print Calendars for Your Publication.
Available Artwork Slots
When you select a template, the system displays the artwork slots that template supports. Each slot shows the required dimensions and accepted file formats (EPS, TIFF, PDF, or PNG with transparency) so your uploads will fit properly. The slots you may see include:
- Logo — Your publication's logo, displayed in the page header. This appears on every template.
- Adbar — A horizontal banner area, typically running across the top or bottom of the page. Not all templates include an adbar slot.
- Ad — A larger rectangular ad placement. This is the primary monetizable space on your print page. Multi-page templates may offer more than one ad slot across the PDF.
Sponsorship Ads
The ad slot is designed to be sold to local advertisers as a Sponsorship Ad. To use a sponsorship ad, simply upload the advertiser's artwork to the Ad slot. The ad will appear on your print-ready PDF in the position defined by your template.
If you have multiple ad slots (on multi-page templates), each can be sold independently to different advertisers, giving you additional revenue opportunities per edition.
Generic Ads
If the sponsorship ad space is not yet sold, you can use a Generic Ad in its place. A generic ad promotes your online events calendar and highlights that the ad space is available for purchase. To set up a generic ad, provide:
- Your online calendar URL
- A phone number and email address where potential advertisers can reach you
This turns an unsold ad slot into a promotional tool — it drives readers to your online calendar while actively marketing the print ad space to potential buyers.
Regular Artwork vs. Per-Edition Artwork
There are two ways to manage your ad artwork:
Regular artwork is uploaded through the Configuration section of the Print tab. Whatever you upload here is used as the default for every edition. This is the right choice for standing sponsorship deals or your generic ad.
Per-edition artwork is uploaded through the Artwork tab when viewing a specific current or upcoming edition. Artwork uploaded here overrides the regular artwork for that edition only. Use this when you have a one-time sponsor, a seasonal ad, or any artwork that should only appear in a single print run.
Tip: If you add per-edition artwork after the print deadline has already passed, you'll need to select Create Manual Draft so the new version picks up the updated artwork. For more on creating new versions and manual drafts, see Print Page Fine-Tuning Options.
