Q: I see some events on my calendar without images. Why is that?
A: Your events calendar displays two types of events:
Upcoming Events – These are events submitted directly to your calendar through our system by you, your team, or local event organizers. They are shown at the top of the calendar and almost always include images.
Other Events (Backfill Events) – These are events pulled in from other sources to help fill your calendar and make it look active from day one. They were not submitted directly to your calendar.
For “backfill” events, there’s a setting in your calendar’s code that controls whether we show images for them. If this setting is off, backfill events will appear without images — even if the original event had one.
Why this happens:
- New calendars often have only a few direct submissions at launch.
- We add backfill events to provide more content.
- If the “show images for backfill events” setting isn’t enabled, those events will appear without pictures.
How to change it:
If you’d like backfill events to display images, you can update the code on your calendar page and enable the option to show images for backfill events.
