Every event creator that has a user in our system is owned by Evvnt or a partner site that uses our calendar system. Any user that is owned by your site can be found in the Sales CRM at your site. Ownership for users is based on the site they were using when posting their first event with an Evvnt calendar. A user email address may only be owned by one publisher at a time. Any user can post to multiple sites following this guidance.
How is user ownership defined?
- A Promoter User is created the first time a user posts an event to our system.
- The user is owned by the site they were on or the link they were using when they started their first submission.
Users can also be created in these ways:
- Editors/admins can create users from their partner backend. The editor/admin can select the "Home Site" when they create the user.
- Users can sign up from a login page. That login page will create users for a particular site based on how the potential user arrived at the login page. For example, using the generic Evvnt login page to sign-up will create a user owned by Evvnt: app.evvnt.com
- Existing promoter users can add users to their account and that user should be owned by the same site as the account.
Changing User Ownership
User ownership may need to change based on a user request. Our support team can change the ownership of a user. If you have the user's permission, you can request that change. Please provide the email address of the user and which site should own the user. We may reach out to the user to confirm this move if we deem necessary.
Consequences of User Ownership
More info about how user ownership impacts event creators can be found here: How does Evvnt post your event? A user will appear in the Evvnt Sales CRM if the user is owned by the site with your account.
Customer's Report "Switching" to Other Site
When running a calendar site, you may encounter situations where event creators claim that their events are "switching over" to another site. This issue is tied to how user ownership works within the system. Here's an explanation of the process:
-
User Ownership Overview:
In the system, every user is assigned to a "parent site," which serves as their owner. This ownership determines where their events are primarily managed and which site’s branding appears in their Evvnt dashboard. -
How Events Are Handled When Submitted Through Your Calendar:
If an event is submitted from your calendar, the system will attempt to send the event to your calendar, provided the event’s location meets the allowed criteria. However, when the user accesses their Evvnt dashboard, it will be branded with the logo of the parent site that owns the user, even though the event may have been added to your calendar. Users can login and look at their Event Report to see which site(s) their event is posted to. -
Why Events Appear to Switch Sites:
If a user was originally registered with another calendar (the "parent site") before interacting with your calendar, even if they submit events through your calendar and even if the event is accepted by your calendar, they will be taken to their Evvnt dashboard which will defaults to the logo and branding of the parent site. -
Resolving Ownership Issues:
User ownership cannot be directly changed by calendar admins. If a user wants their ownership to be transferred to your calendar, you or they can contact Evvnt support to request this change. Until that happens, their dashboard branding will continue to reflect the original parent site.
In summary, these issues are a result of how user ownership is structured within the system. While events submitted through your calendar may appear there, the parent site’s ownership and branding will remain in effect unless adjusted by Evvnt support.
