Overview
Your calendar has a unique submission URL that allows local event organizers and community members to submit events directly. This is one of the most important tools for growing your calendar with exclusive, locally sourced content.
The submission URL opens a form where users enter their event details — title, date, venue, description, and category. Once submitted, the event enters your calendar based on your publishing settings.
How to Find Your Submission URL
Your submission URL is located in the Get Code section of your site admin. Log in, select your site, and navigate to Get Code. The submission link is displayed alongside your calendar embed codes and widget options.
What Happens When an Event Is Submitted
When a user submits an event through your submission URL:
- The system checks the event location against your catchment area settings
- If the event falls within your area and matches your allowed categories, it is accepted onto your calendar
- If the event location is outside your catchment, the submitter is informed that the event will appear on the broader Evvnt network instead
Events submitted by local organizers are prioritized over backfill content, so direct submissions always receive prominent placement on your calendar.
Where to Share Your Submission URL
The more visible your submission link, the more local content you will receive. Effective placements include:
- Site navigation — add a prominent "Submit an Event" link or button to your website header or events page
- Email newsletters — include the link in your regular email communications to encourage community participation
- Social media — share the link periodically on your social channels, especially when promoting your calendar
- Print materials — if your publication includes a print component, reference the submission URL in your events section
- Partner outreach — share the link directly with local venues, promoters, and community organizations
The Submission Experience for Event Organizers
When an event organizer visits your submission URL, they are guided through a form that collects:
- Event title and description
- Date, time, and recurrence options
- Venue name and address
- Event category
- Images and contact information
After submission, the organizer receives a confirmation and can manage their event through their Evvnt account. They may also be presented with optional paid upgrades such as featured placement or promotion packages.
Why Submissions Matter
- Exclusive content — locally submitted events are unique to your calendar and not available through backfill
- Community engagement — a steady flow of submissions signals an active, trusted calendar
- SEO value — original event content with local venue data drives organic search traffic
- Revenue opportunities — submitters are exposed to paid upgrade options during and after the submission process
