The featured events section on your calendar showcases events prominently at the top, ensuring maximum visibility. Featured events are also shown in mini calendars or "content widgets" that should be added on your site. Events can become featured either by upgrading to a premium event or through manual featuring by an admin or editor.
Featured Carousel
To ensure the calendar displays a featured carousel, it is advisable to manually feature several future events. Alternatively, you can create an Editor's Pick carousel for a curated selection of events. Learn more about the "Editor's Pick" option here.
- No Featured Section Showing? A featured carousel will ONLY appear at the top of a calendar when there are enough featured events. If there are only one or two featured events then those will be moved to the front of the upcoming list and highlighted with the "Featured" banner.
- Randomized Display Order: The carousel does not show events in chronological order but randomly, ensuring all featured events get maximum visibility irrespective of when they are happening.
Manually Featuring an Event
Editors and Admins can login to the calendar system. They can head to the event list and click "Manage" to see the option to "Feature" an event.
Customize the Name - "Featured Events"
The heading title "Featured Events" and the flag on the events can both be customized. Admin access is required to edit the theme for a calendar. More info here: Calendar Theme
Featuring Multi-Day Events
Multi-day events will not be shpown in the upcoming events list after they begin, making them harder to find for those browsing the calendar. To keep these events visible throughout their duration, manually feature the event to ensure it remains prominently displayed.
- On Now Display: For events spanning multiple days, they will continue to be visible in the "on now" section of the featured carousel after they start, even if they no longer appear in the upcoming list.
- Ensuring Visibility: If only a few events are featured, the "On Now" events may not be displayed without enough featured events being present to trigger the carousel. Manually featuring several future events can ensure the carousel appears and gives a space for the multi-day eventsĀ to be visible.
