There are many ways to configure tickets. Here we will go over the basics.
Ticket Categories and Prices
Our system organizes tickets by Ticket Category, each of which can contain multiple ticket price levels. The category sets the inventory, and then a ticket price is one option to draw from this inventory. For example, a category can be created that holds 100 "Lawn Seats". Within that category, you could create one ticket price for an "Adult" and different ticket price in the same category for a "Child" ticket. This allows any combination of Adult and Child tickets to be sold within the limit of 100 tickets available in that category.
General Admission vs. Reserved
Most tickets will be "General Admission". These are tickets that will be picked from a list. "Reserved" ticket categories are for events where ticket buyers are expected to select a seat from a floor plan. When creating a "Reserved" ticket category, a floor plan is mandatory. Floor plans can also include a general admission section, making it easy to offer both reserved and general admission tickets for an event.
Ticket Fees
Fees for processing ticket orders are a combination of service fees and merchant processing fees. Service fees are the fees we charge and merchant processing fees are for processing credit cards. These two items are added together and shown to the customer as one processing fee. Ticket fees are collected by our system whereas the merchant processing fees are paid to the payment processor. You can read more about how service and processing fees are calculated in more detail here: How are ticket service fees calculated?
